Milngavie Karate Club (Douglas Academy)

At the Milngavie Karate Club, run by the Glasgow Karate-do Shoto Association, everyone’s welcomed, no matter their age or fitness level. Jimmy, who’s been leading the club since 1992, makes sure the environment is relaxed and fun.

Kids as young as 5 and adults up to 75 train here. No need to be super fit to join; the whole point is to get fitter together. The instructors, who are great with everyone including folks with disabilities, might just need a nod from your GP.

If you fancy joining, just pop along to one of the classes in your jogging bottoms, t-shirt, and trainers. Don’t forget some water. Karate suits and gear are available at good prices if you decide to stick around.
