Welcome to Millbeach Marine Club, the top spot for sailors in Essex! Founded in 1967 by some sailing buffs, the club is on the north shore of the River Blackwater, just a bit downstream from Maldon Hythe Quay. It's super close to Heybridge Basin and Osea Island.
Fancy joining a local sailing club? Millbeach Marine Club is the place to be. Whether you're a newbie or looking for a new sailing home, pop by for a chat with our friendly crew. On sunny days, you'll catch them having a cuppa on the veranda.
For over 50 years, the MMC gang has been running the club as a non-profit. They've spruced up the facilities, snapped up an extra acre of land, and put up a clubhouse and big launching ramp. We keep fees low and have no paid staff, so everyone pitches in to keep the club in top shape. There are work parties throughout the year, perfect for getting stuck in and meeting new mates.
We've got about 80 family members at the moment and rent part of the river from Maldon Council for moorings. These are drying moorings with water access two hours either side of high tide from our ramp. We're mostly about day yachts, cruising yachts, and a few open boats - no speed boats or Jet Skis here.
Millbeach Marine Club is known for its laid-back and friendly vibe, and our work parties are always a hit. We also throw in some social events when the UK weather plays ball. Plus, we've got some ace sailors who love helping out the less experienced folks when they first hit the river.
We also care a lot about coastal wildlife. We team up with the RSPB and Essex Wildlife Trust to protect beach nesting birds in the Blackwater and Colne estuaries. We've got some handy leaflets and posters to make sure everyone's enjoying the coast responsibly.
Help us protect our coastline by spreading the word and following our guidelines. Check out more info on our website and social media.
