Midlands Raceway is a permanent, indoor, radio-controlled car racing club located in Cradley Heath, West Midlands. The club offers both on-road and off-road classes for racers of all ages and experiences. The club is run by a small and friendly committee comprised of experienced racers who are always available to offer help and advice to newcomers and those in need of car setup assistance.
Midlands Raceway features an AMBrc lap counting system that supports the use of personal transponders. While the club does not provide handouts, there is a few transponders available for hire at a fee. BRCA membership is mandatory for all drivers, as it provides 3rd party liability insurance. The club welcomes both racers and those looking to practise their skills.
The off-road track at Midlands Raceway boasts an EOS carpet surface with various wooden jumps, bumps, and other unique features. Notable features of the track include a “wall of death” and a cross-over. The on-road track, on the other hand, is equipped with ETS carpet that is perfectly flat, making it ideal for all on-road classes. Square plastic downpipes and fire hosing are used as track markings to minimise any potential damage to cars.
The track layout and features are regularly changed to ensure exciting and fun racing for all levels of racers.
In terms of opening hours, the off-road track is open for practise every Wednesday from 6pm to 10pm, and every Friday from 6pm to 7pm. Race nights are held every Friday from 7pm to 10:30pm, and practise on Saturdays is available from 12pm to 4pm. It is important to note that opening times are subject to change, so it is recommended to check the Facebook group for live updates.
Midlands Raceway also has a set of rules that must be followed during races and practise sessions. Any tyres can be used on the off-road track, while slick tyres are required for the on-road track. Shock protectors must be used on buggies at all times, and all chassis screws should be tight and thread locked when necessary. Micro chassis must be taped to cover screws.
Additionally, only BRCA approved additives can be used on the road carpet.
