Midland Sailing Club, led by Joe Smith, invites you to experience the thrill of sailing right in the heart of Birmingham at Edgbaston Reservoir. Just under two miles from the city centre, the club offers a welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of age or skill level.
Saturdays are for competitive racing all year round, and from April to October, there's additional sailing on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. The club accommodates various sailing classes such as Merlin Rockets, GP14s, Enterprises, Lasers, Solos, Fevas, Toppers, Optimists, and windsurfers.
Beyond sailing, Joe has ensured that the recently refurbished galley and clubroom provide ample refreshments, and the bar is buzzing on Saturday afternoons and Wednesday evenings. Social events, including summer barbecues and winter Wednesday night programmes, keep the camaraderie alive.
As an RYA Recognised Training Centre, Midland Sailing Club offers courses for beginners to experienced sailors, and a vibrant Junior Fleet for those over 7 years old. Parents are encouraged to join the sailing fun too!
Members benefit from boat hire options, indoor storage (subject to availability), and advice from experienced sailors. The club also competes in Open Meetings across the country and hosts its events. A highlight is the annual September trip to Southport for a 24-hour race full of sailing and socialising.
