The Mornington Peninsula Triathlon Club is proud to present the Michelle Blake Scholarship, an important and meaningful event within the local triathlon community. This scholarship is a way for us to pay tribute to Michelle Blake, a remarkable triathlete who bravely fought ovarian cancer for four years.
Michelle's passion for the sport was unmatched, as she participated in multiple Ironman competitions and even represented Australia twice in Kona. Despite her ongoing battle with cancer, Michelle remained determined and continued to race, serving as an inspiration to all those around her. She truly embodied the spirit of resilience and generosity.
The scholarship itself is awarded annually to a Performance Group Athlete who exemplifies exceptional commitment and dedication towards their training and racing. This recognition is a testament to their hard work and serves as a motivation for others within the triathlon community.
In 2017, we had the privilege of honouring Lily Van Raay as the inaugural recipient of the Michelle Blake Scholarship. Lily's passion and dedication to the sport made her a deserving candidate. We are confident that she will continue to excel and inspire others in her future endeavours.
