Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre, located in the heart of Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Village, has been serving the community since October 2008. With a wide range of facilities and activities suitable for all ages and abilities, the centre is dedicated to promoting health and fitness.
For health and fitness enthusiasts, the centre boasts a state-of-the-art 64-station Fitness Suite equipped with the Sky Ultimate Package for customer viewing. There is also a separate Fitness Studio for smaller group sessions and personal training. Those who prefer free weights can make use of the separate Free-weights room. Additionally, the centre features an 8 Badminton Court Main Hall, 3 Glass-backed Squash Courts, and a Dance Studio.
The centre also caters to those who enjoy swimming. WellbeingMerthyr, in collaboration with Merthyr County Borough Council, has launched a microsite to keep residents updated on the redevelopment of swimming facilities at Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre.
Merthyr Leisure Centre offers a varied programme of weekly classes to cater to different interests and fitness levels. Due to current Covid restrictions, class sizes are limited, and booking in advance is required. This can be done by calling reception or through the iScuba app.
Apart from the fitness classes, Merthyr Leisure Centre is a hub for various local groups and clubs, accommodating all age ranges and abilities. From Junior Clubs like Squash Diversity Dragons and Karate Kids Dance, to Adult Clubs such as Squash Turn'd Up Fitness and Karate Netball, the centre aims to promote community engagement and wellbeing.
The centre's opening times are as follows: Monday to Thursday from 6. 15am to 9pm, Friday from 6. 15am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday from 8. 15am to 4pm.
