The Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Instructor Programme is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about martial arts and want to make a difference in the lives of their students. This rigorous training programme is designed to prepare individuals to become instructors and eventually run their own branch.
Participants in the programme must have a high level of dedication to teaching martial arts and a strong desire to enhance the lives of their students. The programme consists of 6 levels of progression, which must all be competently achieved to obtain Probationary Instructor level.
The programme includes monthly 2-hour seminars at headquarters, where participants will learn coaching and management skills under the guidance of the experienced instructor and business mentor, Sifu Steve Carpenter. In addition, participants will also receive hands-on training in actual classes once a week to develop the high level of skill required to become a Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Coach.
One of the best parts about this programme is that it is completely free! However, please note that there is a limited number of spots available each year and strict guidelines must be followed throughout the 4-year duration of the programme. There are also some additional costs for coaching kit (£60), coaching manual (£15), and DBS (£9).
The programme is divided into 6 levels, each focusing on different aspects of coaching and management. Level 1 involves basic class involvement duties such as setting up equipment, preparing the training area, and running basic health and safety checks. As participants progress through the levels, they will learn more advanced coaching skills, such as coaching small groups, maximising student participation, and running warmups and cool downs.
Upon completion of Level 6, provisional instructor status will be awarded. If all the standards outlined in the Instructors handbook are met, full instructor status will be granted. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are not only passionate about martial arts but also interested in branch management. Meridian Kung Fu (UK) offers the opportunity for new instructors to open a branch on a one-year trial period, and if all standards are met during this trial period, full instructor status will be awarded.
