The Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Instructor Programme at Basildon's very own Mixed Martial Arts club is an exciting opportunity for passionate individuals to become certified instructors. This comprehensive training process offers a unique career path, unlike any other available in the sports world. It's a chance to make a positive impact on the lives of students while pursuing one's own dreams.
The programme consists of six levels of progression, each of which must be completed to obtain the Probationary Instructor level. Through theoretical training and monthly 2-hour seminars supervised by experienced instructors and business mentor Sifu Steve Carpenter, recruits will learn and master coaching and management skills. This hands-on approach ensures that participants develop the highest level of skill necessary to become a Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Coach.
The best part is that the Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Instructor Programme is completely free of charge. However, due to limited availability, applicants must meet specific criteria and follow strict guidelines throughout the four-year programme. Recruits will need to purchase coaching kit (£60), coaching manual (£15), and obtain a DBS check (£9).
Let's break down the details of each level in the programme:
Level 1: Recruits will start with basic class involvement duties, such as setting up equipment and running health and safety checks. This level provides an opportunity to observe and familiarise themselves with the class structure.
Level 2: Introduction to coaching! Under strict supervision, recruits will learn basic coaching duties and techniques. They will also discover how to establish rapport with individual students and assist with warmups.
Level 3: Time to learn class management systems! Recruits will understand the importance of maintaining the class register and organising students before and after training sessions. They will also develop skills to maintain order within the training area and assist with the cool down.
Level 4: Here comes advanced coaching skills! Recruits will learn how to maximise student participation and coach small groups effectively. They will also discover how to make sessions enjoyable and run warm-up and cool-down activities.
Level 5: At this stage, recruits will showcase their coaching ability. They'll become experts in equipment setup, health and safety checks, small group curriculum training, and warm-up and cool-down techniques.
Level 6: It's time for branch management tuition! Recruits will gain knowledge in economics and enrolment, marketing and recruitment, maintenance, insurance, and first aid. These skills will prepare them for future opportunities and success as instructors.
Upon completion of Level 6, recruits will be awarded provisional instructor status. If all the requirements outlined in the Instructors handbook are met, they will have the chance to open their own branch on a one-year trial period. This is an incredible opportunity, and if all standards are met during this trial period, full instructor status will be awarded. Additionally, for those who require it, Meridian Kung Fu (UK) can provide a full-time premises on a lease basis in any area of the UK.
