Meridian Kung Fu Benfleet is excited to announce our comprehensive training program, the Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Instructor Programme. This program is designed to transform individuals into qualified instructors and offers the opportunity for a fulfilling career change or a new direction in martial arts.
Participants in the programme must be deeply committed to the teaching of this beautiful martial art and have a genuine desire to educate and enhance the lives of their students. The programme consists of 6 levels of progression, all of which must be successfully completed to obtain the Probationary Instructor level.
Coaching and management skills are taught in monthly 2-hour seminars at our headquarters in Benfleet, under the guidance of our experienced instructor and business mentor, Sifu Steve Carpenter. These sessions are complemented by hands-on training in actual classes once a week to develop the high level of skill required to become a Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Coach.
The Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Instructor Programme is a four-year course that requires strict adherence to guidelines. While the course is offered free of charge, please note that there are associated costs. A coaching kit is required, which costs £60. Additionally, a coaching manual priced at £15 and a DBS check for £9 are also necessary.
Let's take a closer look at the different levels of the programme:
Level 1 introduces basic involvement duties during sessions, such as setting up equipment and ensuring the training area is prepared.
Level 2 focuses on the introduction to coaching and basic coaching duties, all under the supervision of experienced instructors. Participants will learn pad and drill training techniques and how to create rapport with individual students.
Level 3 explores class management systems, including maintaining the class register and organising students. Participants will also learn how to ensure order within the training area and follow the curriculum.
Level 4 delves into advanced coaching skills, such as coaching small groups and maximising student participation. Additionally, participants will learn how to make sessions enjoyable and effective, as well as run warm-up and cool-down activities.
Level 5 focuses on demonstrating coaching ability, including equipment set up, health and safety checks, and small group curriculum training. Participants will also gain experience in conducting warm-up and cool-down activities.
Level 6 dives into branch management tuition, covering topics such as economics and enrolment, marketing and recruitment, maintenance, insurance, and first aid.
Upon successful completion of level 6, participants will be awarded provisional instructor status. If all the standards outlined in the Instructors handbook are met, full instructor status will be granted. Meridian Kung Fu (UK) also offers the opportunity for new instructors to open a branch on a one-year trial period. If all the standards are met during this period, full instructor status will be granted. Additionally, we can provide a full-time premises on a lease basis anywhere in the UK should the instructor require it.
Being a Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Instructor is not just a job; it is a passion. If you would like more information about this incredible opportunity, we encourage you to speak to your branch instructor. They will be more than happy to provide you with further details. Join us on this amazing journey and become part of the Meridian Kung Fu (UK) family.
