Would you like to become a competitive swimmer? If so, when you are ready to make the transition from swimming lessons to being coached in a competitive club environment, Melton Mowbray Swimming Club would love to hear from you. Melton Mowbray Swimming Club, founded in 1964, is a renowned competitive swimming club in Leicestershire and Rutland. The club caters to swimmers aged 7 to masters, who participate in various events throughout the year.
The club's dedicated coaches, all of whom are qualified by the ASA, focus on improving swimmers' technique, speed, and stamina to help them reach their full potential. Coaching is structured based on age, ability, and potential, with separate junior and senior squads. The junior squads are open to swimmers aged 7 to 12, while senior squads accept swimmers aged 12 and above.
Prospective members are required to register through the 'Trial Request' link and attend a trial session with one of the qualified coaches. This ensures that swimmers are placed in the most suitable squad based on their skills and potential. All squads train for a minimum of two sessions per week, with more advanced squads training at least three times per week.
Melton Mowbray Swimming Club takes pride in its competitive achievements. The senior swimmers actively participate in the Leicester and National Arena Leagues, as well as various open meets throughout the season. The junior swimmers compete in Diddy Leagues, offering them valuable experience in competitive environments. The club also organises internal competitions, providing all members with the opportunity to enjoy competitive swimming.
Swimmers may also be encouraged to participate in the Leicestershire County Championships if deemed appropriate.
Exceptional swimmers who achieve Regional and National entry times have the opportunity to compete against some of the country's finest swimmers. This enables them to showcase their skills on a larger stage and further their swimming careers.
Melton Mowbray Swimming Club is known not only for its competitive achievements but also for its friendly and supportive atmosphere. The club encourages a healthy team spirit and values the well-being of its members. A dedicated Welfare Officer, Sarah Littlewood, is available to address any concerns or inquiries regarding welfare.
