Are you the owner of Melton Mowbray aikido club?

Welcome to the Melton Mowbray Aikido Club! Established in 1989, our club is dedicated to the practise and promotion of Aikido, a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba, also known as 'O' Sensei. We are proud to be affiliated to Kyu Shin Kan Omeikai, under the guidance of Toshiharu Sawada Shihan and recognised by the Aikikai Foundation of Japan.
At Melton Mowbray Aikido Club, we believe in the philosophy of Aikido, which emphasises blending and harmonising with your attacker rather than opposing them. This approach requires minimal physical energy, allowing Aikido practitioners, also known as Aikidokas, to rely on the development of their skills rather than sheer strength or speed. As a result, Aikido is suitable for people of all ages, sizes, and genders.
There are numerous reasons why training in Aikido can be beneficial. Firstly, Aikido is not just a martial art but also a way of life. It teaches you important values such as discipline, respect, and self-control. By practising Aikido, you will not only improve your physical fitness but also develop mental fortitude, concentration, and mindfulness.
Physically, Aikido offers various benefits. Regular training can improve your strength, flexibility, stamina, and balance. It can also enhance your coordination and agility, which can be beneficial in other sports and activities. Additionally, Aikido techniques promote proper body alignment and posture, which can help prevent injuries and improve overall body mechanics.
Aikido also provides psychological benefits. By training in Aikido, you will learn to stay calm and focused even in challenging situations. The practise of Aikido can help reduce stress, anxiety, and tension, improving your overall mental well-being. It also promotes self-confidence and self-esteem, as you gain proficiency in the art and see your progress over time.
Furthermore, Aikido is an effective self-defence system. The techniques of Aikido focus on redirecting an attacker's energy and using their own momentum against them. By studying Aikido, you will acquire practical self-defence skills that can be applied in real-life situations. You will learn how to protect yourself and others without causing unnecessary harm.
Lastly, Aikido is not limited to the dojo (training hall). The principles of Aikido can be applied in daily life, improving your interactions with others and promoting harmony. Aikido teaches conflict resolution, empathy, and the importance of maintaining a peaceful mindset.
Whether you are a beginner looking to try martial arts for the first time or an experienced practitioner seeking further development, the Melton Mowbray Aikido Club is the perfect place for you. Our dedicated instructors provide high-quality instruction in a friendly and supportive environment. Join us and embark on a rewarding journey of self-discovery and personal growth through the practise of Aikido.
