As the summer school holidays approach, the club has appointed Mark “Sooty” Gillie as the junior convenor, ensuring that the junior section continues to enjoy competitive golf throughout the holiday period. Melrose Golf Club strongly encourages juniors to play on the course. However, it is essential to note that they must begin their round before 5.00pm unless accompanied by an adult member. Additionally, every Friday afternoon, an enjoyable competition is open to all Junior Members under the age of 18. No handicaps are required for this 9-hole stroke competition played over shortened holes of approximately 150 yards. The maximum shots per hole are 10, and the competition is played under R&A rules of etiquette and golf. Parents are more than welcome to accompany their children around the course, especially the younger ones.
