Melbourne Rovers Soccer Club, located in Burnley, is Australia's only fully-inclusive LGBTIQ soccer team. The club was founded in June 2008 with the aim of promoting physical and social fitness, health, and recreation through the sport of soccer.
During the summer months, Melbourne Rovers runs a Social Soccer programme on Sundays. This programme is open to players of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced players. It provides an opportunity for individuals to come together for a social kick around and have loads of fun. Social Soccer sessions take place at Fawkner Park in South Yarra, near Slater Street.
Participants are encouraged to bring runners or synthetic pitch boots (no studs), a water bottle, and both a light and dark shirt. In case of inclement weather, updates and cancellations can be found on the Melbourne Rovers Facebook page.
In addition to the Social Soccer programme, Melbourne Rovers also has a Women's Team. The team recently won the Julie Murray Cup in 2019. The club takes pride in its achievements and often participates in Pride Football Australia events. Photos from these events can be found on their website gallery.
Melbourne Rovers Soccer Club is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all individuals. They strive to create a sense of community and provide opportunities for both physical activity and socialising. Whether you're a seasoned player or looking to reignite your passion for soccer, Melbourne Rovers welcomes you to join their team.
