Aikido, a traditional Japanese martial art, emphasises circular movements and minimal effort for maximum effect. Practitioners learn to redirect an aggressor's force, mastering throws and immobilisations. Importantly, Aikido instills ethical teachings, focusing on self-preservation without excessive harm.

Jackie emphasises the rich history of Aikido, tracing back to its founder, Professor Morihei Ueshiba, known as Osensei. The Aikikai organisation, established around Osensei, is led today by his grandson, Moriteru Ueshiba. In 1966, Chiba Sensei brought Aikido to Britain under Osensei's direction, laying the groundwork for various Aikido organisations, including British Birankai. Chiba Sensei remains an influential figure, visiting the UK regularly to impart his wisdom.

Mei Jyu Kan's offerings extend beyond physical practice to include weapons forms and sitting meditation, fostering both mental and spiritual growth.
