Being a part of McGL means being a part of a supportive community. The Academy goes beyond just dance and creates a family through shared love and passion for the art form. Dancers are provided with incredible opportunities, from local performances to international travel, creating lifelong memories.
For beginners, the journey starts with a fun and non-competitive environment. Classes are held in groups of similar ages for about an hour, with dancers only needing comfortable sports attire and the hair tied back. There is no need for formal class costumes or shoes at this stage. The only cost is the annual registration fee, which includes branded attire like a t-shirt or shoe bag.
Beginners are encouraged to participate in the Academy's annual class competitions, held in the summer and at Christmas. These events are enjoyable for the whole family and allow beginners to experience performing in front of an audience.
All taster classes at McGL are free, and the registration fee is only payable when a dancer returns for their second month. As dancers progress, they may choose to invest in Irish Dance pumps for soft shoe dancing, and affordable second-hand options are always available. Heavy shoes are only required for further advancement.
McGahan Lees Irish Dance Academy Clapham Park is a place where dancers of all ages and skill levels can discover their love for Irish dance, grow as performers, and become part of a supportive community.
