Mazazik Dance presents Mazazik Drum Circle, a monthly internet drumming class and social event. Led by an experienced instructor who has collaborated with renowned drummers, this drum circle explores captivating rhythms from Egypt, Nubia, Morocco, and Turkey.
At Mazazik Drum Circle, the focus is on unity and harmony as drummers come together in a supportive and non-competitive environment. The instructor's unique talent lies in facilitating drumming and using music to connect people.
While free-form drumming has its place, these classes are designed for individuals who are eager to actively participate, learn, and gradually build confidence in the rhythms and pieces being worked on. The primary areas of study in these classes are frame drumming and tabla/darbuka playing.
In addition to the classes, Mazazik Drum Circle offers free tutorials, termly Zoom get-togethers, and in-person gatherings. There is also an option to purchase a Year 1 condensed class called 'Drills, Fills, and Variations for Egyptian Baladi,' which not only consolidates the drumming tutorials but also introduces a new rhythm.
