About
Welcome to Matthews Little Portage Camp (MLPC), a family-owned and operated resort located in Loring, offering a unique vacation experience for guests. The Matthews family has owned and operated this "Tourist Camp" for 94 years, with three generations now involved in its operations - Johnny, Scott, and Leneath. Their goal is to ensure that each guest has a memorable and enjoyable stay at MLPC.
One of the popular accommodations at MLPC is the Log Cabin, built in the 1930s and known as the Honeymoon cabin where the Matthews family spent their honeymoon in 1936. The cabin has been updated over the years and continues to attract visitors looking for a cozy retreat.
Guests at MLPC can enjoy a range of outdoor activities, including bocce, swimming at the beach, and fishing off the dock. The camp offers year-round operation, allowing guests to experience all four seasons in the beautiful surroundings of Loring. In winter, guests can enjoy ice fishing in the five ice huts located near the camp and explore nearby snowmobile trails.
Pets are welcome at MLPC, provided they are well-behaved. The camp is pet-friendly, with accommodations available for furry friends. Guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets to cover furniture to help keep the accommodations clean.
Johnny, the host of MLPC, looks forward to welcoming new guests and making their stay enjoyable. He encourages guests to contact him via email for any inquiries or to arrange their stay at the camp. With free WiFi available at the camp, guests can stay connected during their vacation.
At Matthews Little Portage Camp, guests can expect a warm and welcoming atmosphere, surrounded by nature and activities for all ages. Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat or an adventure-filled vacation, MLPC has something for everyone. We invite you to experience the beauty of Loring at Matthews Little Portage Camp.
