The Mathieson Cup Mallusk, a cross-country event held at the City of Belfast playing fields, is set to take place soon. This event has gained immense popularity over the last few years, attracting an increasing number of enthusiastic participants.
The race itself presents a challenging course, with women running approximately 6k and men taking on a 8k route. The terrain features steep sections that will truly put athletes through their paces, but fear not, there are also some flat sections around the football pitches to catch your breath. It's a well-balanced course that will surely test your endurance and agility.
Our very own Ricky McKnight represented PACE at the event last year and showcased an impressive performance. He finished just outside the top third of the field, demonstrating remarkable determination and resilience. In addition, Ricky secured a remarkable top 15 position in his age category, which happens to be the most competitive category. Let's all take a moment to congratulate Ricky for his outstanding achievement!
If you're still contemplating participating in a cross-country event, we have excellent news for you. Several upcoming races are scheduled, starting with the Intermediate and Masters XC at Comber. You can also look forward to the Stormont XC and the highly-anticipated NI National XC Championships. It's worth noting that the Nationals will take place in the picturesque County Donegal.
To all the participants venturing into these upcoming races, the entire PACE Running Club Antrim extends their best wishes and good luck. Lace up those running shoes, push through the pain, and remember to enjoy every step.
