MatchPoint Badminton Club is a fun, friendly, and competitive club located in Southampton. Situated at Totton Health & Leisure Centre on Water Lane in Totton, SO40 3GX, the club is affiliated with Badminton England.
At MatchPoint, players of all levels are welcomed and catered for. Whether you're a beginner, a league player, or even a county player or veteran, there's a place for you in the club. The club boasts various teams that participate in local leagues in Southampton and Winchester. Feather shuttles are used during matches, ensuring a high-quality gaming experience.
Club nights are held every Wednesday from 8:00pm to 10:00pm, running throughout the year except for the Christmas week. The first club night is free, giving newcomers the opportunity to try out the club. MatchPoint is primarily an adult club, but welcomes mature juniors, and it even has an appointed child protection officer to ensure the safety of its members.
In addition to competitive play, MatchPoint Badminton Club also provides a social side. Members can participate in activities such as meals out and fun tournaments, fostering a sociable and welcoming atmosphere within the club.
For those who wish to improve their skills, MatchPoint offers three qualified coaches who are available to provide friendly advice or more structured coaching and training sessions.
Membership options at MatchPoint include an all-inclusive option and a pay and play option. The all-inclusive membership offers full team selection eligibility and has no club night fee. The annual fee for full membership is 160, while concession membership (available to full-time students, senior citizens, or second and subsequent household members) is priced at 120. Junior membership, for individuals aged 12-18, is priced at 80.
On the other hand, the pay and play membership covers the member for insurance and allows them to be eligible as a team reserve. The annual fee for pay and play membership is 30, with a club night fee of 7. Junior pay and play membership is priced at 30 with a club night fee of 5.
To ensure that members are insured by Badminton England, new members are required to register with MatchPoint after playing six times. Yearly membership fees can be paid in two halves, with the first half due by the end of September and the second half by the end of December. There is a 10 surcharge for this payment option to account for the club's high cash flow requirements at the start of the season. A late payment surcharge of 10 will be imposed for any outstanding fees from January 1st.
To be considered for full team selection, members must join at the gold level and submit the team selection form along with the first 20 of the membership fee.
Match fees for all Southampton and Winchester teams are 6. 00.
