Principal of Masque Theatre School, Kerree Bray, opened the school in 1996 at The Broadstairs Youth & Leisure Centre. Through recommendations and a strong reputation, the school quickly gained popularity and recognition. In response to increasing demand, the timetable was expanded to include more subjects and provide a comprehensive range of training for students. Over the years, Masque Theatre School has become a highly regarded performing arts school in Thanet, with a dedicated and experienced staff.
In 2001, due to the growing demand for classes, Masque Theatre School began the search for its own premises. After a long renovation process, the school moved to its current location in Ramsgate in 2009. The premises, located in the Former United Reform Church, features four fully fitted dance studios. These studios are equipped with dance floors, ballet barres, and mirrors, providing an ideal space for training pupils.
The studios have retained the beautiful character of the grade two listed building, offering students a unique and inspiring environment to learn and grow.
In addition to the dance studios, Masque Theatre School also provides comfortable waiting areas, a kitchenette, changing rooms, and toilets for the convenience of students and parents. There is also a newly renovated office space with internet connexion, which can be used as a homework room or a quiet space for communication between students and parents. The school is also working on adapting one of the larger studios as a performance space for smaller events, such as musical theatre and drama showcases.
The teaching staff at Masque Theatre School are highly qualified and experienced professionals who are dedicated to providing high-quality training while keeping it fun and relatable. The school is a recognised member of the Council for Dance, Drama & Musical Theatre (CDMT), ensuring that all staff members are professional, DBS checked, and covered by public liability insurance. Kerree Bray, the School Principal, has worked tirelessly to develop the school and ensure its continual progress. She takes pride in maintaining high standards and providing a supportive and enriching experience for all students.
