Mas Oyama Karate New Zealand is a renowned karate school located in Whanganui, New Zealand. Dedicated to the traditions of full-contact Kyokushin Karate, the school is led by the esteemed Hanshi Doug Holloway, an 8th dan black belt. Hanshi Doug, who established the first Kyokushin Karate dojo in New Zealand over 50 years ago, trained in Japan under the guidance of Mas Oyama himself.
Supporting Hanshi Doug are the Branch Chiefs - Shihan Mike Kenworthy (7th dan) for the North Island and Shihan Graeme Gavegan (7th dan) for the South Island. Together, they ensure the highest standards of training and development for all students.
Kyokushin Karate, often referred to as the strongest style of karate, was created by Mas Oyama, a Korean-born master of various Japanese martial arts.
