Situated on the stunning Maraetai Beach, the Maraetai Beach Boating Club Inc. (MBBC) is a destination for boating enthusiasts, social activities, and dining experiences. The club prides itself on promoting aquatic sports, including sailing, windsurfing, and junior sailing programmes.
At MBBC, members have access to superb boating facilities and a warm community atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or a beginner, the club provides the perfect environment to meet new people and enjoy recreational activities on the water. The Club also offers a range of social events throughout the year, organised by the active Social Committee.
For those interested in fishing, the club has a dedicated Fishing Committee that hosts various competitions and events. From the annual Friday Fishing Tournament to the Reel Girls Fishing Competition, fishing enthusiasts can showcase their skills and enjoy friendly competition.
The MBBC also offers a fully equipped restaurant and bar called Caviar Kitchen, which is open from Thursday to Sunday and on public holidays. The restaurant provides a delectable menu featuring a variety of dishes prepared with locally-sourced ingredients. Additionally, the bar offers a range of beverages, including a selection of fine wines, craft beers, and refreshing cocktails. Bar snacks are available from 4pm, and the restaurant opens at 5pm.
The club is also a popular venue for private functions, including weddings. The spacious Club rooms can be hired for special occasions, and the experienced staff ensure that every event is personalised and memorable.
As part of the ongoing commitment to improving the facilities, the MBBC has recently embarked on a building project to upgrade the outside toilets, showers, and wetrooms. This is in response to the increasing demand from various organisations to host water sports activities in the Maraetai-Beachlands area. The club has received support from Pub Charity Ltd, Franklin Local Board, and NZ Community Trust, but is seeking donations to raise the necessary funds to complete the project. Donors will have their names recorded on engraved stainless steel Bricks surrounding a commissioned sculpture of a unique Whale Tail, which will be prominently displayed in the Boat Club.
