The Maple Ridge Boxing Club (MRBC) is a boxing facility located in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Open Monday through Thursday, the club offers both recreational and competitive training for individuals of all ages. Situated in the same building as the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre, the gym is easily accessible and can be found just left of the main entrance.
At MRBC, the focus is not just on physical training but also on mental discipline. The club believes that boxing teaches self-reliance, self-discipline, and a sense of achievement through the betterment of personal bests. The sport emphasizes that what is demonstrated in action must first be recognized in the mind.
For those interested in competitive boxing, MRBC offers amateur boxing programs for individuals aged 9 and up. To participate in matches, boxers must have a doctor's certificate and pass a medical exam on the day of the competition. Safety is a top priority, and all competitors wear international approved protective equipment, including headgear and gloves.
The Maple Ridge Amateur Boxing Club (MRABC) has a rich history, spanning over 50 years. As a BC registered non-profit society, the club is currently led by four dedicated volunteer coaches who have all competed with MRABC as youth or young adults. The club has produced top boxers who have achieved international recognition, representing Maple Ridge provincially, nationally, and around the world.
