Mapdance, the buzzing contemporary dance troupe from Chichester, is making waves across the UK. Steered by the University of Chichester's MA programme, Vicky Evans and her talented squad hit the road nationally and internationally, bringing top-notch performances to audiences far and wide.
In Spring 2023, Vicky led mapdance on a thrilling national tour, featuring fresh creations by choreographers Kay Crook, Seeta Patel, and Luke Brown. They also revived Gary Clarke's electrifying piece, "On Your Marks," crafted especially for the crew back in 2020.
2024 looks even more exciting, with new works lined up by Yukiko Masui (SAY), Renaud Wiser, and Carrie Whitaker (Lla Dance). Plus, they'll be restaging Sarah Golding's crowd-pleaser, “STATE.” Expect a mix of dance theatre, high-energy moves, intricate choreography, and a dash of clever humour.
Ideal for dance enthusiasts and newcomers alike, mapdance delivers performances that appeal to all. Their shows are especially engaging for students from GCSE to university level, offering a perfect blend of artistic insight and entertainment.
Beyond performances, Vicky's mapdance offers tailored workshops for schools and colleges. Whether it's a half-day taster or a full-length residency, these sessions dive deep into contemporary dance, energising students and expanding their dance horizons.
Many mapdance alumni have gone on to successful careers with top choreographers and organisations across the UK and beyond. Interested in joining? Vicky holds auditions periodically—details are on their website.
