Mansfield Olympic Gymnastics Club, located in Mansfield, is a Women's Artistic gymnastics club catering to girls aged 5 and above. Established by Geoff Davies in 1988, the club has grown exponentially under the leadership of his daughter Nicola. Initially operating as a small recreational gymnastics club in Edwinstowe, it now offers both recreational and competitive gymnastic classes in their own dedicated premises in Mansfield.
At Mansfield Olympic Gymnastics Club, their primary goal is to provide their members with an exceptional gymnastics experience, regardless of their skill level. The club aims to create a fun and engaging environment that enables their gymnasts to develop not only their abilities but also their confidence in and out of the gymnastics setting.
Nicola Wynn, the Head Coach/Director, brings a wealth of gymnastics experience to the club. As a former gymnast and trampolinist who began competing at the age of 9, Nicola has been coaching since 1985 and played a pivotal role in establishing MOGC with her father, Geoff. With her Level 4 coaching qualification and certifications in First Aid at work, Safeguarding children, and Positive coaching, Nicola ensures that each gymnast receives top-quality coaching.
Joining Nicola in leading the club is Geoff Davies, the Founder of MOGC in 1985. As a Level 4 coach, Geoff is dedicated to providing the best coaching experience for the gymnasts. He shares Nicola's commitment to their athletes' well-being, holding certifications in First Aid at work, Safeguarding children, and Positive coaching.
MOGC boasts a diverse team of coaches who bring different qualifications and experiences to the table. These coaches use up-to-date techniques and progressions to lay a solid foundation for their gymnasts, fostering a love for the sport. Their approach involves incorporating games and engaging activities to make learning gymnastics skills and techniques enjoyable. They also encourage their team members to pursue further qualifications in coaching and judging through British Gymnastics, and support their older gymnasts who wish to transition into coaching roles.
All team members are insured by British Gymnastics, have undergone first aid training, and hold full DBS checks.
The club's staff includes Charlotte Bramley, who has been involved in gymnastics since the age of 7 and holds a Level 2 coaching qualification, as well as certifications in First Aid at work, Safeguarding children, and Positive coaching.
