Mansfield Karate Club is a well-established martial arts school located in Mansfield, offering authentic Wado-Ryu karate training to individuals of all ages and abilities. Led by Sensei David Allsop, a highly experienced 7th dan black belt instructor, Mansfield Karate Club offers group training sessions as well as private one-on-one tuition. The group training sessions cater to both adults and children, with prices starting at 5 for adults and 4. 50 for children. Private tuition is available for individuals of all ages at a rate of 9 per session.
The school also offers sales and supply of karate equipment to support students in their training.
Mansfield Karate Club offers convenient training times and venues to accommodate different schedules. Group karate sessions are held at the Westhill Drive Mansfield location on Monday, Wednesday, Friday (children's session), Saturday (children's session), and Sunday. Additional sessions are also available at various venues, including Lammas Sports Centre in Sutton in Ashfield, Kirkby Festival Hall in Kirkby in Ashfield, and Meden Sports Centre in Warsop Notts.
At Mansfield Karate Club, students are expected to adhere to certain dojo etiquette and practises. This includes removing all jewellery before training, keeping the karate uniform (gi) clean and in good condition, and removing shoes before entering the training floor. Maintaining personal hygiene, such as keeping nails clean and short, and ensuring clean hands and feet, is also emphasised. While in class, students are expected to concentrate and follow the instructions of Sensei David Allsop, referring to him as 'Sensei' in the dojo.
Respect is shown through bowing, both when entering or leaving the dojo and when interacting with training partners or fellow students.
The classes at Mansfield Karate Club begin with a formal bow, showing respect to the instructor and fellow students. The highest graded students line up on the right-hand side of the dojo, and on the command of “Sensei ni rei,” the class bows to the instructor. This is followed by a bow to everyone else in the class on the command of “otagani rei. ” At the end of the class, a final bow is performed to thank partners and fellow students, with the command of “Otagai ni rei.
” The class then exits the dojo floor in a dignified manner.
