Manly Andrew 'Boy' Charlton (MABC) Swim School, located in Manly Vale, offers an extensive swimming program aimed at promoting water safety and enhancing swimming skills. With lessons available from Monday to Saturday, participants can easily find a time that suits their schedule. Even during school holidays, the swim school continues to provide lessons, ensuring consistent progress.
For parents with young children, the swim school offers water familiarisation classes specifically tailored for children aged 6 to 36 months. These 30-minute classes focus on introducing water safety concepts and teaching basic swimming skills such as submerging, floating, jumping, turning, and holding.
Preschool-aged children, between 3 and 5 years old, can join the Preschool Learn to Swim program. This program consists of five levels, and its main goal is to build water confidence among children. Classes focus on essential water safety skills, including climbing out of the pool, resurfacing and floating, paddling, as well as developing freestyle and backstroke techniques.
For school-aged children, the Learn to Swim and Stroke Development program offers seven levels. This comprehensive program combines survival skills, stroke development, and correction to help children improve their swimming strength and confidence in the water.
Swim Stars is a specialised program designed for children with special needs. With a focus on building muscle strength, endurance, flexibility, self-control, and safety, this program caters to individual needs. Students have the option of choosing group or private lessons, with group lessons allowing a maximum of three students per class.
The swim school also offers a program called “30 minutes Minis,” which serves as an entry level to their squad program. This program is suitable for swimmers who have completed the Active Award levels and are ready to transition to the squads program. The sessions concentrate on developing all four swimming strokes, teaching basic training techniques, diving from the blocks, executing correct turns, and utilising the pace clock. Session times for this program vary throughout the week.
To ensure smooth operation and accommodate students' needs, the swim school has specific policies in place. If a student is unable to attend a lesson, they are required to notify the swim school at least 30 minutes prior. In such cases, a family swim/practice pass will be issued, allowing the student to make up for the missed lesson. Each calendar year, students receive six family practice passes, which can be used until 31 December. To redeem the pass, students simply need to present their student card to the reception staff.
For those planning vacations or extended breaks, the swim school offers four suspension weeks each calendar year. By providing a 14-day notice, students can suspend their regular classes and pay a reduced fee of $5 instead.
For cancellations, a cancellation form must be completed with a 14-day notice. It's important to note that during the Christmas break, from Saturday 16/12/23 to Monday 15/01/2024, no lessons will be conducted. However, lessons will resume promptly after the break.
