Welcome to the Manchester Kendo Dojo, a well-established martial arts school located in Manchester, New Zealand. Affiliated with the British Kendo Association, the Manchester Kendo Club offers traditional and competitive kendo training to individuals of all levels.
The dojo holds regular sessions on Monday evenings at Parrs Wood School in Didsbury from 8pm to 10pm. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, you are welcome to join our open session. However, for beginners, we highly recommend participating in one of our beginners' courses, which typically run every 12 weeks.
In addition to the open sessions, the dojo also conducts an armoured-only session on Tuesdays from 8pm to 10pm. Please note that the dojo is closed on Bank Holidays.
Led by current and previous National Squad members, the Manchester Kendo Dojo is known for its competitive spirit and achievements. Our teams regularly participate in tournaments across the UK and Europe, often coming home with medals.
The dojo is focused on providing comprehensive training in etiquette, safe practise, footwork, cutting, and striking techniques against armoured opponents. Kendo is practised barefoot, so we ask our students to maintain clean feet, trim their toenails, and leave their shoes at the door. Comfortable clothing is recommended for training.
If you are interested in joining our next beginners' course, please check our calendar for upcoming course dates. Spaces are limited, so make sure to complete the contact form on our website to reserve your spot. Upon receiving your information, we will send you a welcome email with further details.
