The Woodend & District Netball Club (Buffalo Stadium), based in Woodend, is excited to promote a fantastic local Netball event! The Macedon Ranges Netball Association (MRNA) hosts winter competition each year, bringing together teams from various towns such as Romsey, Riddells Creek, Kyneton, Gisborne, Lancefield, and Macedon.
The games take place at the MRNA Netball Complex, conveniently located at the corner of Hamilton and Barringo Roads in New Gisborne. The action kicks off bright and early at 8.30am, providing a thrilling start to the day for players and spectators alike.
Before the season officially begins, the Woodend teams undergo grading/training sessions at our very own Buffalo Stadium in March. These sessions are vital in determining the appropriate section for each team to participate in, ensuring fair and competitive matches. Training sessions are held on Thursday evenings, commencing at 4.15pm, allowing our dedicated players to sharpen their skills and prepare for success.
To be part of this exciting winter competition, players are required to pay a registration fee. For the 2023 season, the fee was set at $260. Netball uniforms are available for purchase or hire through our shop, allowing players to proudly represent the Woodend & District Netball Club during their matches.
We embrace inclusivity in our sport, welcoming boys to join our teams and experience the exhilaration of netball. Additionally, we run a summer season netball league at Buffalo Stadium, played on our fabulous outdoor courts on Friday afternoons. For summer, team selection is focused on creating evenly skilled and experienced teams, resulting in thrilling and balanced matches. While there are no training sessions for the summer league, players still get to enjoy the incredible sport of netball at its finest.
For aspiring young netball enthusiasts between the ages of 5 and 10, our club proudly supports Australia's official starter program, NetSetGO. Taking place during Term 1 at Buffalo Stadium, participating children receive a kit containing a ball and a NetSetGO t-shirt upon registration. The cost and additional registration details for NetSetGO can be found on the Netball Australia website.
Mark your calendars and get ready for a sensational Netball event at Woodend & District Netball Club (Buffalo Stadium)!
