Macclesfield Seals Swimming Club caters to individuals of all ages with any disabilities, as well as their families, caregivers, and volunteers aged 14 and above. Children and young people can register with the Cheshire Disabled Children's Database. Learning to swim is encouraged but not compulsory, and members can receive ASA accredited awards as they progress in their swimming abilities.
The swimming club meets every Friday evening at Macclesfield Leisure Centre Pool, which offers good accessibility for people with disabilities. The leisure centre has disabled parking bays and a poolside chair-hoist for those with mobility difficulties. The club organises various social activities and events, including Swimathon, where the team swam 142 lengths and raised 220 for the club.
Macclesfield Seals Swimming Club is a registered charity, with the charity number 515061. As a charity, the club does not charge for swimming sessions and relies on fundraising to cover the costs of social activities, equipment, and insurance. All volunteers are DBS cleared and trained in safeguarding and pool safety. Training opportunities in safeguarding awareness and first aid, as well as pool safety, are provided for volunteers.
