The journey of Luton Diving Club began when it parted ways with Luton Kingfisher Swimming Club due to growing interest in diving. Initially, sessions were held at Wardown Swimming and Leisure Centre, but in 2012, the club moved to the top-notch facilities at Inspire: Luton Sports Village. The venue boasts diving boards up to 10 metres and a fully equipped dry gym to meet the training needs of all squad members.
At its core, LDC is all about inclusivity. Paul emphasises that everyone is welcome, regardless of ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, sex, age, or ability. The main aim is to support members in participating in various diving competitions. Training, provided by Active Luton and managed by their Diving Development Officers, ensures everyone gets the guidance they need.
Luton Diving Club is always on the hunt for talented individuals who have the potential to shine as competitive divers. Whether it's through beginner lessons, holiday courses, or taster sessions, promising children are spotted and nurtured. Key attributes such as flexibility, strength, coordination, bravery, and attention to detail are essential. Those with backgrounds in gymnastics, tumbling, trampolining, or dance often have a head start.
Parents who see these qualities in their children are encouraged to contact LDC to arrange a "talent trial". Lessons and training sessions are all overseen by Active Luton, with the Head Coach at the helm. Joining the club’s squads and competing can happen through lessons or talent identification.
