The Luton Aikido Club has been fortunate to regularly welcome the esteemed Shihan Fujimori Akira Sensei for his bi-annual visits. Since 2003, Sensei Fujimori has graciously taken on the role of the club's patron and has made it a tradition to spend valuable time in Luton.
During his visits, Sensei Fujimori generously imparts his knowledge and expertise through daily lessons and training sessions that last for several hours. As a highly respected martial arts expert, he is renowned for his exceptional skills in Aikido and various other martial arts disciplines.
In addition to their training, the Luton Aikido Club takes delight in showing Sensei Fujimori the beauty and history of the area. During his free periods, they accompany him on visits to various tourist attractions, allowing him to indulge his keen interest in history.
In 2003, during a memorable friendship visit, Sensei Fujimori held a remarkable 2-day seminar at the esteemed Lea Manor Recreation Centre. This exciting event garnered attention and was even featured in the local paper, the Luton News. The seminar served as a great opportunity for participants to learn from Sensei Fujimori's wisdom and refined techniques.
Having achieved a 7th Dan Black belt in Aikido and attained high grades in other martial arts, Sensei Fujimori's contribution to the world of martial arts extends beyond Luton. He has also taught at Tokyo University's martial arts club, adding to his impressive resume.
In recognition of Ros Loft's immense dedication to Aikido and her influential role as the founder and chief instructor of the Luton Aikido Club, Sensei Fujimori honoured her with a remarkable gesture. He bestowed upon her a personal seal, a symbol of great significance in Japanese culture. This gesture exemplifies Sensei Fujimori's deep respect and appreciation for her contributions to Aikido.
In 2005, Sensei Fujimori returned to the Luton Aikido Club for a second visit, further enhancing the members' understanding and skills in Aikido. Throughout his stay, Sensei Fujimori not only devoted his time to teaching sessions but also took the opportunity to explore the local places of interest, immersing himself in the culture and surroundings.
