Lurgan Bowling Club in Craigavon is buzzing with activity and camaraderie. Led by President Neil Sloan, it's got a dedicated and passionate group of members who make every season special. Though they had to say goodbye to cherished members Jack Duff, Mollie Ward, and Malcolm Lynch, the club showed true resilience.
The A Team had a tough run and will be in Division 2 of the NIBA next season, but the B Team held strong in Division 3b. The Veterans' Blues and Reds shone, with the Blues winning the NIVBL Section 1a, and the Reds clinching the Stevenson Cup again! Alan Briggs, Iain Ferguson, and Peter Dew nearly took the Richardson Triples final – a solid effort.
The Ladies' section made history by finishing second in the NIWBA Senior League and reaching the Wingrave Cup semi-finals. Hats off to Doreen Wheelan and Mia Patterson for their NIWBA Pairs Championship win, and to Eileen Robson, Irene Cunningham, Doreen Wheelan, and Jennifer McVeigh for their great run in the IWBA Fours Championship. Teri Millar stepped in and played brilliantly.
In the Bangor Tournament, Sam McCombes, John Gilliland, Eileen Robson, and Teri Millar triumphed in the Fours, while Nigel Hamilton was runner-up in the Singles. Their achievements highlight the club's talent and dedication.
You'll find Lurgan Bowling Club's beautiful Home Green in Lurgan Park on Windsor Avenue. There's plenty of parking on Windsor Ave and at the nearby Swimming Pool Car Park. The club's council, including Neil Sloan as President and Gordon Whitehead as Vice-President, work hard to keep things running smoothly.
The match secretaries—Jeffrey McCullough for the A Team, Melvyn Hamilton for the B Team, Peter Dew for the Veterans' Blue team, and Gerard Devlin for the Veterans' Red team—along with the Selection Committee led by Alan Briggs, are always on top of their game.
With state-of-the-art green and pavilion facilities and a website by Titanic Consultancy Ltd for all club info, Lurgan Bowling Club is the place to be. Whether you're a seasoned bowler or just curious about the sport, everyone is welcomed with open arms at Lurgan Bowling Club.
