Lotus Birth Yoga is a Pregnancy Care Centre and Yoga studio in Fort William, New Zealand. The studio offers pregnancy yoga classes with a foundation in Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, an energetic form of yoga that strengthens the body while promoting flexibility and softness. The classes follow a set sequence each week, supplemented with additional postures to prepare the body for birth. The regular practise of this sequence allows students to connect deeper with their breath, eliminating the need to focus on upcoming postures.
Each class consists of a flowing pregnancy yoga sequence that helps students connect with their breath, body, and baby. It is followed by a deep, guided relaxation session. At the end of each class, there is a 15-minute discussion on topics related to labour and birth. These include comfort measures, such as natural and medicinal options, birth location, different phases of labour, breathing and relaxation techniques, active birth, understanding the pelvic floor, and induction of labour.
Different topics are covered throughout the three 6-week blocks, providing comprehensive education on childbirth.
The studio offers online classes through Zoom on Mondays from 18:00-19:15 in 6-week blocks. Recordings of the classes are also available. Birth partners and supporters are welcome to join the classes. The cost for each 6-week block is 55, and the next block will start on 03/07/23.
There is no booking fee required, no limit on the class size for online classes, and participants do not need to be in the local area. To join the classes, interested individuals can email fay@lotusbirthyoga. Com or message 07894553881 for the Zoom link.
