Liverpool Trojans Baseball Club, established in 1946, is the oldest existing baseball team in the UK. However, the club is not just focused on its rich history, but also on the present and future. The club has expanded over the years to cater to the growing interest in the sport in the area.
In 2013, the Trojans were a single-team club, but they realised that there was a demand for baseball that they couldn't meet in that format. As a result, in 2014, they started their second team, known affectionately as the “Twojans. ” Then, in 2020, the club merged with Halton Baseball Club to form the Halton Trojans. Each team within the club serves a different purpose to accommodate players of all abilities.
The first team is assembled to compete at the highest level possible, aiming for championship titles. In fact, they have been the Northern champions for the past four seasons and are excited to defend their title in 2021. The Twojans, initially a development team, have worked hard for five seasons and are now ready to compete on their own. They are determined to win their first trophy in the coming years.
Additionally, the Halton Trojans were established to provide playing opportunities for those who want to get into baseball. This team consists of experienced players willing to share their knowledge, rookies eager to learn the sport, and everyone in between. The Halton Trojans aim to nurture and develop new talent.
In 2021, the club is introducing youth baseball taster sessions throughout the summer. Led by their BSUK Level 3 qualified coach, Dave Martin Baez, these sessions are designed to introduce young players to the sport of baseball. The club also recently introduced a softball team, the Liverpool Trojans softball team. This team competes in Liverpool's own developmental softball league, which also merged with the Trojans organisation.
Liverpool Trojans Baseball Club is always on the lookout for new players, coaches, umpires, and scorers, regardless of their abilities or level of experience.
