The Linda Cooper School of Dance in Derbyshire has been a leading dance institution for over forty years, serving as a source of inspiration for dancers of all ages. From two-year-olds to the elderly, the school offers private dance lessons tailored to individual needs and abilities. One of their specialities is the Silver Swans programme, which focuses on Royal Academy of Dance Ballet for individuals over the age of 55.
The school specialises in Ballet, Contemporary, and Gymnastic Dance, and actively prepares students for National Association of Teachers of Dancing examinations. These examinations are C. D. E.
T. approved, which allows students to accrue UCAS points, greatly benefiting prospective university students.
Linda Cooper, the proud founder of the school, has a deep passion and love for dance. She began her dance journey at the tender age of three, training formally in Ballet with the Royal Academy of Dance. As she progressed, Linda was introduced to tap and modern dancing through the National Association of Teachers of Dancing syllabi, which further ignited her interest in performing, choreography, and teaching. Linda's lifelong dream was to establish her own dance school, where dance could be accessible to individuals from all backgrounds and abilities.
Her motto, “no one is excluded,” reflects her commitment to inclusivity.
Throughout her career, Linda has garnered the highest qualifications in dance, including a degree in Dance/Arts Therapies. Her expertise led her to serve as a teacher at primary schools and at the BTec and A-level levels for Leicestershire and Derbyshire Education Authorities. Linda is a Fellow of the NATD and has been an appointed examiner since 2012. Additionally, she is a Registered Teacher of The Royal Academy of Dance and a Member of the International Dance Teachers Association.
Currently, Linda focuses her efforts on the Silver Swans programme, enthusiastically promoting her private lessons and regular meets at The Memorial Hall in Aston-on-Trent.
