The rich history of Lincoln Green dates back to February 1997 when the first recorded match was played between New Zealand Women and New Zealand A Women team. This was followed later that year by the inaugural first-class match, where the New Zealand Academy cricket team emerged victorious against Bangladesh.
Over the years, Lincoln Green has hosted several notable matches, including the clash between the New Zealand Academy and Pakistan A in the late 1990s. In the 1998/99 Shell Conference, the ground witnessed matches between the Southern Conference and the Central Conference, as well as the Northern Conference.
