Gary and Bridie Stanford bring you the Lighthouse Sports and Social Hub, a fantastic spot right on the Dovercourt seafront in Harwich. This family-run hub is all about getting the entire family moving and having a blast. The star attraction? A massive outdoor skating rink perfect for showing off your roller-skating skills.
But that's not all – football, basketball, table tennis, foot tennis, netball, volleyball, and kids' multi-sports holiday clubs are all on the menu. There’s definitely no shortage of activities to keep everyone entertained.
While the kids are busy burning off energy, parents can kick back and unwind. Feeling peckish? The venue has got you covered with a variety of hot and cold food, drinks, and the crème de la crème of ice cream! And don't miss out on the gelato milkshakes, the top summer treat.
For those serious about fitness, there are classes run by GBFitness and Nutrition and HFit PT. These sessions cater to all abilities, making it easy to stay on top of your fitness game. The summer sees the hub open every day, but schedules might shift with the seasons given the focus on outdoor fun.
Gary and Bridie have also raised the game with an outdoor food hut and a cosy café serving up delicious bits, including coffee from a brand-new bean-to-cup machine. And when the sun’s out, the bar area offers the legendary ice-cold gin berry slush – a must-try!
Planning a special event? The Lighthouse Sports and Social Hub is a go-to spot for afternoon teas, buffets, and private parties. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for all the latest on family-friendly events that make the hub the perfect community gathering place.
Half-terms are handled with both funded and paid spaces at the hub and the GBFitness Studio, keeping the young ones active and social. Don’t miss the Skate Club led by Ellesha on Wednesdays and Saturdays, where kids can learn to skate, make friends, and build confidence.
Harwich ParkPlay calls the hub home too, running every Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm. It’s free, inclusive, and brings people of all ages together for fun and games. Plus, for a unique fitness twist, try out Kangoo Jumps – rebound shoes that offer a super effective cardio and core workout.
