The St. Alban's Sports Centre in York is excited to announce that they will be hosting the Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS UK) National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) course from Easter 2023. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are interested in becoming Pool Lifeguards or pursuing a career within the leisure industry.
The NPLQ course is a comprehensive training program that covers all aspects of lifeguarding. Participants will undergo 36 hours of training, which includes a combination of physical exercises, classroom sessions, and practical assessments. They will learn essential skills such as lifeguard theory, pool rescue techniques, first aid, and CPR.
It's important to note that the NPLQ course is physically demanding. Participants will be required to swim to set times, demonstrate the ability to lift casualties, and even dive to the deepest part of the pool, which is at a depth of 2.1m. It's a rigorous course that ensures individuals are well-prepared for the challenges of lifeguarding.
If you have previous certifications or qualifications related to lifeguarding or first aid, you may be eligible for prior learning credits. These credits can be applied upon presentation of your certification, potentially shortening the duration of the course.
Please keep in mind that all applicants must be 16 years of age or older to participate in the NPLQ course. This is a standard requirement set by the RLSS UK.
If you're interested in taking this exciting step towards becoming a certified lifeguard, or if you simply want to acquire these valuable skills, don't hesitate to get in touch with St. Alban's Sports Centre. You can reach them at 01439 766740 or email them at bam@ampleforth.org.uk. They will be more than happy to provide you with further information and answer any questions you may have.
