Li Chi Hsiang Inner Health Tai Chi Chuan Tasmania, located in Burnie, Tasmania, is a renowned tai chi school that aims to teach Tai Chi Chuan and related internal practises as a means for rejuvenation, transformation, and well-being. As a branch of the Inner Health Taijiquan school, Li Chi Hsiang Inner Health follows the principles and philosophies of this respected institution.
The name “Li Chi Hsiang” has significant meaning. It reflects three governing philosophical concepts arising from the Yi-Jing, book of changes. Li, which means principle, governs movement in Tai Chi and represents the inner essence of the practise. Chi, which translates to breath or intrinsic energy, refers to the energy that animates and enlivens human beings.
Lastly, Hsiang, meaning form or manifestation, represents the manifestation of Tai Chi Chuan principles and function. The school emphasises the constant nurturing of these three vital concepts through the practise and study of the Yang style short form.
By diligently studying this ancient Chinese Taoist martial art, students at Li Chi Hsiang Inner Health can experience improvements in their health, mental well-being, and self-defence skills. The school offers Tai Chi Chuan classes and related Taoist internal practises to interested individuals.
Darren Cox, the school's teacher, has over 30 years of experience in studying the art of Yang style Tai Chi Chuan, specifically focusing on Cheng Man Ching's 37 Form, and Taoist internal practises. Darren is deeply grateful for his teachers, Sifu Roman Czerniawsky and Sifu John Hartley, for their patient guidance in transmitting the principles and philosophies of the art. In 1999, Darren received permission to teach Tai Chi Chuan, and since 2005, he has been offering instruction to students in Burnie, Tasmania.
