Leybourne Grange Riding Centre for the Disabled, located in West Malling, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing horse riding therapy and education to individuals with disabilities. With a focus on inclusivity and empowerment, Leybourne Grange offers a safe and supportive environment for both disabled riders and able-bodied riders alike.
The centre is always on the lookout for horses to purchase or loan. If you know someone who is looking for a caring and excellent home for their horse, please get in touch with Leybourne Grange at 01732 872844. The centre is committed to ensuring the well-being of their horses and strives to match them with riders based on their individual needs and capabilities.
Regardless of the weather conditions, Leybourne Grange remains open seven days a week, providing lessons to riders throughout the year. The centre has been diligently working through their waiting list, which has now become slightly shorter. If you have been on the waiting list for a considerable amount of time, please feel free to contact Leybourne Grange to check your position or inquire about any last-minute lesson availability.
To maintain the welfare of their horses, Leybourne Grange has implemented a new policy of weighing riders before each lesson. This practise ensures that riders do not exceed the maximum weight limit of 14 stone or 88 kilogrammes, preventing any strain on the horses. If you have concerns or questions regarding this policy, the centre encourages you to speak with one of their knowledgeable staff members.
Leybourne Grange is continually searching for new horses and additional staff members. If you are aware of a horse that may be a good fit for the riding centre or if you know someone interested in working with them, please send an email with the relevant information. The centre is particularly interested in recruiting voluntary “handy persons” who can assist with various tasks such as fence repairs, painting, mowing, and other maintenance duties.
The lesson prices at Leybourne Grange vary depending on the type of lesson and the rider's ability. Disabled group lessons are priced at 12, semi-private disabled lessons at 15, and private disabled lessons at 20. Able-bodied riders can participate in group lessons for 20, semi-private lessons for 22, and private lessons for 25. It is mandatory for all riders to wear a hat during their lessons, which can be rented for 1 per 30-minute lesson.
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the centre kindly requests that riders do not attend their lessons if they have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with the virus. However, if a household member has COVID-19 but the rider themselves is symptom-free, they may still attend their lesson. Cash and cheques are the only accepted forms of payment at Leybourne Grange, as the centre does not have card facilities.
Leybourne Grange operates a 48-hour cancellation policy, meaning that if a lesson is not cancelled with at least 48 hours' notice, the rider will be responsible for the payment of the cancelled lesson. Regular cancellations without a valid reason may result in the loss of the rider's regular lesson slot. The centre continues to maintain a waiting list for interested clients and accommodates their requests as openings become available.
To support the centre and assist in the care of their horses, Leybourne Grange welcomes donations through their PayPal Donation account. Additionally, when shopping online, you can contribute to the centre by using the Easyfundraising and AmazonSmile platforms. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps to cover expenses such as feeding the horses, purchasing hay, and maintaining the facilities.
Leybourne Grange Riding Centre for the Disabled is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities through the power of horse riding therapy. Their commitment to providing exceptional care and opportunities for both disabled and able-bodied riders sets them apart in the West Malling community.
