Black Belt Martial Arts Hornsby is excited to announce the Level 3 Run & Fitness Test, also known as the 'Red Belt Run'! This monthly fitness test is specially designed for Level 3 Karate and Kickboxing students, and it is open to all participants at that level. So, whether you're a skilled black belt or just starting your martial arts journey, this event is for you!
When attending the event, it is important to come prepared. Make sure to wear appropriate fitness gear and comfortable running shoes. If it's a sunny day, don't forget to bring a hat and apply sunscreen to protect yourself. In colder or wet weather, we recommend wearing warm clothing and bringing a raincoat. Remember to bring a towel and a large water bottle too, staying hydrated during the event is essential!
To ensure a smooth and successful experience, participants should arrive at least 15 minutes early. This will allow you enough time to warm up and stretch before the event kicks off. The fitness test begins promptly at 8am, with all runners starting together. Our aim with this monthly fitness test is to support our students in their fitness journey, helping them improve and prepare for a safe and successful Black Belt Test.
We understand that initially, some participants may find it challenging to complete the full 5k run and achieve the required number of push-ups, sit-ups, and squats within the target times. However, with regular training and dedication, you can work towards and surpass the Black Belt fitness requirements! That's why we strongly advise students to start attending these sessions as soon as possible, even before reaching the brown belt level. We believe that regular attendance is key, and we encourage participants to simply give their best effort.
During the fitness test, there is a specific sequence that needs to be followed. After completing the run, participants will move on to do push-ups, sit-ups, and squat kicks. All push-ups must be done on the toes, and participants must finish all push-ups before moving on to sit-ups. Once sit-ups are completed, they can then progress to squat kicks.
It is crucial for individuals to develop the necessary core and upper body strength to perform these exercises. If you have any existing back or shoulder injuries, please inform Sensei Josh. He will review your medical advice and provide further guidance to ensure your safety throughout the test. For candidates aged 35 and under, squat kicks should reach at least chest height, while for those older, waist height will suffice. During sit-ups, fingertips must extend past the bent knees. It's important to note that partner or parent assistance, such as holding feet during sit-ups, is not permitted.
Don't wait any longer to work towards your fitness goals! Enrol now for Black Belt Martial Arts Hornsby's Level 3 Run & Fitness Test. We can't wait to see you there, giving your all and improving with each step and exercise. Let's take our martial arts journey to the next level together!
