Let’s Walk is a vibrant sports club based in Canberra, Australia. Founded with the mission to promote a healthy lifestyle and build a strong community, Let’s Walk offers a range of walking groups and programmes for people of all ages and fitness levels.
The club believes in the power of walking as a simple yet effective form of exercise that can greatly benefit individuals' physical and mental wellbeing. In fact, research has shown that walking for just 30 minutes a day can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes, while also helping manage weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels. Walking regularly can also improve balance, coordination, and bone density, reducing the risk of falls and other injuries.
One of the main features of Let’s Walk is its walking groups, which allow members to connect with like-minded individuals and walk towards a healthier heart together. With over 600 walking groups nationwide, Let’s Walk makes it easy to find a group near you. Simply search for a walking group within a specified radius and start typing your town, suburb, or postcode. From there, register for your desired group and get in touch with the Walk Organiser, who will provide all the necessary information to get started.
For those who prefer a more personalised approach, Let’s Walk offers a free Personal Walking Plan. This six-week plan is designed to help individuals feel healthier and happier through a tailored walking programme that takes into account their specific goals and fitness levels.
Healthcare professionals can also benefit from Let’s Walk by referring their patients to the club's structured and supportive walking programme. Whether patients want to walk alone or in a group, Let’s Walk's motivational programme aligns with the national physical activity guidelines and complements the care provided by healthcare professionals.
Let’s Walk takes pride in the success stories of its members, such as Maria, a group walker who managed to overcome diabetes and blood pressure problems through consistent walking. Her journey highlights the positive impact that even the simplest form of exercise can have on overall mental and physical health.
To foster a sense of community and provide additional support and motivation, Let’s Walk has an active Facebook group where members can join and connect with others who share their passion for walking.
With the support of the National Heart Foundation of Australia, Let’s Walk aims to continue helping individuals improve their health, strengthen their heart, and build lifelong friendships through the power of walking. Whether you're a seasoned walker or just starting out, Let’s Walk welcomes you to join their walking community and take the first step towards a healthier lifestyle.
