Letchworth Swim School, located in Letchworth Garden City, is a well-established swimming school led by Tania Hawkins since 2002. Operating out of the St Francis College pool, the school offers swimming lessons on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings during term time. Children are welcome to join the swim school from the term that they turn 4 years old. They begin in the width classes, where they remain until they have progressed out of aids and are working on their technique across the strokes. Once they have achieved a distance of 20/25m, they will move up to the first length class session.
Letchworth Swim School takes pride in its own carefully devised badge scheme that covers the progression of all elements of skill and stroke development, as well as basic personal safety through to lifesaving skills. This comprehensive programme allows swimmers to competently progress into joining local water polo, swim squad, and synchronised swimming clubs. It has also provided opportunities for swimmers to pursue scuba or yachting qualifications.
