With a sprawling 160-acre (64. 5 hectares) inland sailing area, we boast the largest sailing facility in the Cheshire/Lancashire/Greater Manchester/Merseyside regions. Our race areas are surrounded by soft shorelines, ensuring minimal wind interference from trees. The water conditions are ideal for a wide variety of monohull sailing dinghies, ranging from Optimist to 49'ers.
Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club is conveniently located with exceptional road links from all directions, making it easily accessible for members and visitors. We take pride in our wide shoreline launching facilities, allowing for hassle-free boat launching. Our dinghy park is huge, secure, and flood-lit, ensuring the safety and security of your boat.
Our clubhouse facilities provide utmost comfort for our members and visitors. Enjoy our heated changing rooms with hot showers, available daily throughout the year. The clubhouse features a large wetroom, galley, and bar area, as well as a separate lounge area with panoramic windows offering stunning views of the sailing action. Additionally, we provide TV and free fast wifi for your convenience.
The galley is known for its fabulous food and is highly regarded by local sailors and national visitors.
Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club is not only dedicated to racing and competitive sailing but also promotes a sense of community and inclusivity. We are a RYA High Performance Centre, RYA Sailability, RYA Onboard, and RYA Training centre. This allows us to offer various training programmes for sailors with disabilities and those interested in high-performance sailing. We also have a separate training classroom for privacy during instructional sessions.
In addition to our sailing offerings, we also provide open water swimming opportunities on Saturday mornings. Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club takes pride in hosting regular open meetings, class championships, and the well-attended winter dinghy racing series in the North of England. We have a modern fleet of rescue ribs and a comprehensive range of well-maintained training boats available for hire.
For non-sailing visitors, we offer a 3. 42-mile circular walk on footpaths around the Flash, providing a scenic experience away from the water.
