Leicestershire And Rutland Youth Sailing Association (LRYSA) is making waves in Leicester! As a registered charity (Charity No: 1107119), LRYSA, led by the spirited Jill, is dedicated to bringing affordable sailing education to everyone in the community.

For the young sailors, there's the lively Saturday Morning Kids Club for beginners, plus youth advance and race training. And for those looking to dive deeper during the summer, LRYSA offers exciting one-week courses in August for beginners and advanced youth alike.

Adults haven't been left in the lurch either. LRYSA runs an 8-week RYA Level 1 & 2 course on Saturdays. Fancy something more relaxed? There's also a chilled-out RYA Level 1 & 2 course for the 55 and over crowd, held on Tuesdays. Plus, powerboat and safetyboat courses are up for grabs, all approved by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA).

LRYSA now boasts brand-new facilities, including a chic clubhouse with a spacious classroom, changing rooms, showers, disabled access, and a cosy training room with a kitchen for some post-sailing snacks. It's a far cry from the old muddy setup with no electricity or running water.

The school's dedicated volunteers, like the heroic Pete Magee, are the backbone of LRYSA. Pete recently made headlines for saving a man's life from a lake – a testament to the commitment and bravery of LRYSA’s instructors.
