Mark, the organiser of Leicester Fencing Club, wants to share a note with all enthusiasts and members of the sport.
Leicester Fencing Club, right here in the heart of Leicester, is your local hub for all things fencing. As one of the biggest clubs in the East Midlands, it specialises in Foil, Epe, and Sabre, guided by a team of dedicated volunteers.
Mark has always been proud of the club's welcoming vibe. Whether you're just starting out or already a seasoned pro, you'll find a group that suits your level and helps you feel at home. There's a great range of groups for beginners, intermediates, and experienced fencers.
Training takes place at the Main Sports Hall in Aylestone Leisure Centre, a stone's throw from Leicester City Centre. There's parking available, although it can vary. Sessions are on Tuesdays from 7pm to 9pm for Foil and Epe, and Fridays from 7pm to 9pm for under 18s Sabre. Keep in mind that session times might shift during school holidays, so best to check in with the club beforehand.
Visitors are more than welcome too. Recently, the club even hosted a fencer from New Zealand. If you're dropping by, just make sure you have a membership to the National Governing Body (NGB). The visitor fee is £5 per night for a two-hour session.
Leicester Fencing Club is also chuffed to hold a Guinness World Record for the most participants in a team fencing exhibition match. This was set up with an Olympic-style piste right in Leicester's Curve Theatre café. Quite a spectacle!
For anyone keen to join or just curious to learn more, head to their website or social media. Mark and the team ensure regular updates through newsletters and other channels to keep everyone in the loop.
