The Leicester Rowing Club Senior Squad is a group of experienced men and women who are passionate about rowing and dedicated to representing our club at events across the country. They train hard throughout the year to maintain their fitness levels and follow a structured training plan.
Training sessions are held regularly throughout the week, including weekend mornings. New members typically start with 2–3 sessions per week, but some crews that compete at a high level train even more frequently. Our squad participates in races and competitions both on the water and indoors during the winter months.
If you're interested in joining our Senior Squad, we encourage you to attend our learn to row sessions. These sessions take place on Saturday mornings and Thursday evenings, and they provide a great opportunity for you to get a feel for rowing and learn the basics. However, it's important to note that rowing requires a significant time and effort commitment. It's not a sport where you can attend occasionally and expect to progress. We want all members to be fully invested in their training and development.
Our club coaches are here to support you every step of the way. They will provide guidance, coaching, and training plans to help you improve. But be prepared for the steep learning curve that comes with rowing. It's a physically demanding sport that requires technique, strength, and mental resilience.
If you have previous rowing experience and are interested in returning to the sport, we invite you to complete our Senior Membership Application Form. This will allow us to assess how we can accommodate you within our squad.
To register your interest in attending a future learn to row session, please visit the Learn to Row page on our website. We can't wait to welcome new members and help them discover the joy and excitement of rowing with the Leicester Rowing Club Senior Squad.
