At Legacy Martial Arts, character development is a key focus. The instructors heavily incorporate life skills into their programmes and ensure that each class includes lessons on topics such as confidence, resilience, respect, self-discipline, positive self-talk, communication, integrity, and perseverance. Students are encouraged to become the best version of themselves and are empowered to develop these important skills.
The school also offers a variety of specialised training programmes. In the Beginners programme, students learn basic short staff self-defence techniques and develop hand-eye coordination with the nunchuck. In the Accelerate Programme, students have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills in weaponry through specialised seminars. Sparring is an integral part of the training as well, with non-contact sparring in the Beginners programme and light contact sport sparring in the Accelerate Programme.
This helps students develop control, reflexes, speed, fitness, and discipline.
Poomsae, which is a pattern of offensive and defensive movements, is another aspect of training at Legacy Martial Arts. It is a tool used to grade high-ranking colour belts and Black Belts. In the Beginners programme, students learn various combinations from a poomsae but are not required to remember the complete pattern for rank certification.
Self-defence training is an essential part of the curriculum. In the Beginner programme, students learn self-defence through confidence-building exercises and assertive voice training, as well as light contact defensive movement tactics. In the Accelerate Programme, students apply what they have learned in realistic scenarios, ensuring that their self-defence skills are safely and effectively executed. Board breaking is also incorporated into the training, allowing students to put their skills to the test realistically.
At Legacy Martial Arts, students are not only taught martial arts techniques but are also guided in becoming confident, respectful, and disciplined individuals. The school's commitment to building strong families and fostering personal growth sets it apart as a premier martial arts school in North Lakes.
