The Royal School Swimming Centre, a swimming club located in Wolverhampton, is proud to offer the Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) course. This course is ideal for individuals who are interested in becoming certified lifeguards and ensuring the safety of swimmers.
The NPLQ course spans over five days, with the assessment taking place on the sixth day. The course is a combination of wet and dry sessions, incorporating physical training and theoretical classroom work. Participants will receive an integrated training manual and workbook on the first day, which they will need to read and complete exercises from throughout the course to be eligible for the assessment.
Throughout the course, the trainer will continually assess the candidates to evaluate their practical skills and understanding of the full syllabus of lifeguarding skills. The course covers both theory and practical sessions, where participants will learn a variety of important lifeguarding skills.
To be eligible for lifeguard duties, candidates must meet certain prerequisites. They need to be physically fit, have good vision and hearing, be mentally alert, and possess self-discipline. Additionally, candidates must be at least 16 years old at the date of assessment.
